Privacy policy
Photo Keepers collects no data about you or your photos. Effective 3 October 2026.
Your photos stay on your Mac
Every photo is analyzed on your Mac using Apple's on-device frameworks. Photos, their contents, file names and your decisions are never uploaded to Merano Studio or anyone else. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
What is stored, and where
- Your decisions and the names you give people are saved in a file called Keepers.json inside the folder you opened. You can delete it at any time.
- Scores, thumbnails, group names and the face index are kept in the app's cache folder on your Mac so that reopening a folder is instant. They never leave the Mac and are safe to delete.
- XMP sidecars are written next to your photos only when you choose to export them.
Faces
To group photos by person, Keepers uses Apple's on-device face analysis. The resulting face index stays in the app's cache on your Mac. It is not shared, not linked to any identity outside the app, and not used for anything else.
Apple Intelligence
Group names are produced by Apple's on-device model. Keepers never uses Private Cloud Compute.
Photos library
If you choose Add Picks to Photos, Keepers asks for add-only access. It can add the photos you picked but cannot read anything already in your library.
Purchases
The optional Keepers Unlimited purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Merano Studio receives no payment details and no personal information from it. Apple's privacy policy applies to that transaction.
Children
Keepers collects no data from anyone, including children.
